Drilling Tax Still On Kasich's Agenda

Ohio Governor John Kasich says his proposal to increase taxes on oil and gas drilling will resurface in the upcoming state budget. Speaking to The Associated Press during the World Economic Forum, Kasich said "you can expect that to come back."

The governor has said that tax on oil and gas drillers would help fund a state income tax cut. Kasich wouldn't say whether his Feb. 4 budget announcement will include an expansion of Medicaid. The Republican governor did say he isn't considering potential political fallout to his GOP colleagues in the state Legislature who opposed the Affordable Care Act in making the decision. Kasich said Ohio's economic comeback generated interest — and potential new business opportunities — at the Switzerland event.
