Drivers Could Renew Tags At Grocery Stores Under Pilot Program

Ohio Department of Public Safety officials say some motorists will soon be able to renew their vehicle registration at grocery store kiosks.

The department says self-service kiosks will be placed in supermarkets Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati in the next six to eight weeks. Kiosk users will be able to swipe their driver's license and credit card to receive their vehicle registration stickers.  Department director John Born recently told an Ohio House subcommittee the department hopes to provide services when and where people and want and need them. Born says if the pilot program is successful, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will look to install more kiosks around the state.
