Earle Bruce Remembered For His Passion, Loyalty, Love Of Family

http://www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com/

Ohio State University today hosted a celebration at St John Arena to honor the life and legacy of Earle Bruce. The former Buckeye coach and media personality died Friday at the age of 87.

Mike Foley produced this sonic snapshot of the ceremony, beginning with former Ohio State coach and current Youngstown State University president Jim Tressel.

Some of the comments from today’s ceremony honoring Earle Bruce. You heard Jim Tressel, current assistant coach Tony Alford, who played for Bruce at Colorado State, Bruce’s radio partner Matt McCoy, Bruce’s grandson and current Ohio State receivers coach Zach Smith, and current Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer. Private services will be held Thursday morning. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Earle and Jean Bruce Alzheimer’s Research Fund.

And in the spirit of remembering Bruce, I found one of my favorite quotes from him. It's his summation of what the rivalry game means. It's from a chat with reporters following Jim Tressel's press luncheon during Michigan week 2002.
