ECOT Asking Judge To Block Repayment Of Millions Of State Education Dollars

Ohio's largest online charter school operator is asking a judge to block the Ohio  Board of Education from voting to order the school to pay back 60 million state dollars for enrollment that can't be justified. The Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow wants to block the June 12 vote, pending an appeal.   A hearing officer has suggested the school pay back the money after a review found students weren't meeting the minimum amount of attendance hours. A trial court ruled in favor of the state education department. ECOT's owner has contributed millions of dollars to the campaigns of state elected officials, mostly Republicans.
