Emancipation Documents To Be Displayed At Cincinnati Freedom Center

Rare copies of the 13th Amendment and the Emancipation Proclamation will be on display at the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center in downtown Cincinnati starting in January.

The Freedom Center's director of museum experience says the documents are rarely kept at museums longer than a few days, but the stature and mission of the museum allowed it to keep the pair on display together for the first half of 2016. Of the original 48 copies of the Emancipation Proclamation signed by President Abraham Lincoln, 26 still exist today. They are valued at 3 million dollars each.
