A former Columbus police officer convicted of stealing military surplus equipment from his employer was sentenced Friday to 30 months in prison. 50-year-old Steven Dean, former head of a police division program that put the equiment to law enforcement use, must also forfeit 118 thousand dollars worth of his assets. Prosecutors say Dean kept some of the equipment, and sold other pieces for scrap metal.
