Federal prosecutors say a former Columbus police officer has been indicted on an additional sex charge.
49-year-old Todd Smith, a former Centennial High School resource officer, is charged with trying to coerce a minor for sex. He was charged earlier this year with sending text messages to two 15-year-old girls at the school and coercing one for sex. Smith is scheduled for trial next month. The mother of one of the alleged victims has filed a civil lawsuit against Smith and the City of Columbus.
