A former Union County Fair Board member will avoid jail time for failing to properly contain livestock on his farm. Scott Cardone was ordered to pay fines after he pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge. Cardone was charged in 2013 after state inspectors found sheep and goats frequently escaped through substandard fencing, causing at least one animal's death.
