Famed Cager Meineke Passes Away

Former University of Dayton and NBA player Don Meineke died Tuesday at the age 82 after a long illness. Meineke led the Flyers to their first 20-victory season and first NIT appearance. Meineke was the first University of Dayton product to play in the National Basketball Association, winning rookie of the year honors in 1953 with the Fort Wayne Pistons. He also played for the Cincinnati Royals. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
