Family Announces The Death Of Former OSU Football Coach Earle Bruce

Former Ohio State football coach Earle Bruce has died at his central Ohio home at the age of 87. 

His four daughters released a statement this morning announcing his passing. The official cause of death was not released, but Bruce was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. Bruce took over in 1979 after Woody Hayes was fired, and was fired himself during the week of the 1987 game against Michigan. Bruce compiled an 81-26-1 record at OSU. His teams won or shared in four Big Ten titles. He also coached at Tampa, Colorado State University, Iowa State, and the University of Northern Iowa. His career record was 154-90-2.  Funeral services are pending. 

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
