Relatives of a man killed in a shooting by Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies responding to a crash are questioning why officers didn't turn on their vehicle's overhead lights and thereby prompt a dash camera to start recording.
The family of 34-year-old Dontae Martin and attorney Michael Wright said Wednesday that issue is among their unanswered questions about what happened. Martin was shot last Thursday in Harrison Township, near Dayton, after a 911 caller reported early that morning that a car crashed into another vehicle. Montgomery County Sheriff Phil Plummer says deputies saw a man pointing a gun at them through the car's tinted window, and he continued to aim toward them after they ordered him to drop the weapon and broke the window. The sheriff has said deputies fired multiple shots.
