Family Sues Dayton Police Alleging Wrongful Death

A lawsuit has been filed in the 2011 death of a handcuffed burglary suspect who Dayton police say jumped from a bridge after escaping custody by breaking a cruiser window with his head. The family of 20-year-old Kylen English is suing the Montgomery County coroner over his cause of death finding of suicide. The lawsuit says no evidence supports the  finding and asks the court to direct the coroner to change his ruling to "indeterminate but not by suicide" and issue a new death certificate. The family last year sued the city of Dayton, a police officer and a local hospital, claiming negligence. That lawsuit is to go to trial in September.
