FDA Says Jeni's Had Problems Before Listeria Outbreak

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration probe of Columbus-based Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams says there was inadequate testing and cleaning in its local plant before listeria was found in some of its ice cream.  The FDA released the investigative report after a Freedom of Information request from The Associated Press. The report says Jeni's managers did not have an adequate sampling and testing program and were not sufficiently sanitizing some surfaces, including the floors. Jeni's recalled all of its products last month. There are no illnesses connected to the recall. Jeni's says it is making ice cream again and re-opening shops today after intensive cleaning.
