Feds Cite Local Battery Recycling Plant For Repeated Violations

The U.S. Department of Labor has cited a Lancaster battery-recycling plant for failing to remedy nine problems that expose employees to lead and other toxins. The department says eight of the violations at the plant owned by California-based Retriev Technologies are repeat offenses.The department says employees were exposed to lead and cadmium in amounts that exceed the legal limit. It wants the company to improve the plant’s ventilation systems by mid-December.
