Film maker Gabrielle Burton says she did not plan for her documentary about the drag queen scene in Columbus to achieve wider distribution at a time of political and cultural division. But Burton says becoming comfortable with complex subjects is something everyone needs at the moment. "Kings, Queens, & In-Betweens" had screenings in Columbus and New York on Friday. The film profiles eight drag performers and their companies in Columbus, which has long had a reputation as a gay-friendly city. Burton says her goal is telling entertaining stories that give people hope for change.
