Final Charge Against Hocking County Coroner Dismissed

A Hocking County judge has dismissed a criminal charge against County Coroner David Cummin,  accused by county commissioners of neglecting his duty. The judge on Friday cited insufficient evidence. Cummin was standing trial on a misdemeanor coercion charge. Prosecutors said he told a county commissioner in July he would delay an autopsy until he received proof in writing that commissioners would transfer necessary money into morgue funds.Three dereliction-of-duty charges and one obstructing official business charge were dismissed in October.
