A Columbus arson investigator is on administrative duty after an alleged road rage incident.
Fire Division officials say 49-year-old Jeffrey Smith was taken off the streets Wednesday, one week after he allegedly pointed a gun at another driver at Jack Gibbs Boulevard and Cleveland Avenue during an argument. The other driver, Michael Watkins, also allegedly flashed a gun, and was charged with aggravated menacing. Authorities say both knew each other and had previous disagreements. The incident comes as the city is
drafting a gun policy detailing when firefighters may use deadly force.
