Five Columbus Cops Cleared Of Internal Wrongdoing In Two Fatal Shootings

The Columbus Police Firearms Review Board says five officers involved in two fatal shootings in 2013 acted within division policy. Grand juries previously declined to indict the officers. Sergeant. John Frenz and Officers Dustin McKee and Don Alderman shot and killed a knife-wielding man, 31-year-old Jason White, at the Saddlebrook Apartments on the far West side in November 2013. White's family says he was battling mental illness. Officers Kareem Kashmiry and Patrick Daugherty shot and killed 22-year-old Jonathan Rodgers outside of an Olentangy River Road bar after he shot his gun at another man in the parking lot in December 2013.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
