Attorneys for Trent Mays, a Steubenville high school football player facing rape charges, are asking a judge to dismiss the case because they say the "unavailability of material witnesses" denies him his right to a fair trial.
A judge last week rejected requests for three juveniles to be called to testify at the trial of Mays and another player charged with raping a 16-year-old girl last year. The juveniles' testimony was expected to bolster the players' defense. Mays and the other player go on trial on Wednesday.
