Foreclosures Down, Repossessions Up In April

The mortgage tracking service RealtyTrac says the number of central Ohio homes falling into foreclosure dropped in April by 55 percent as compared with the same month a year ago. 324 foreclosure-related documents were filed last month, while banks repossessed 339 homes in April, 55 percent more than in April 2014. Repossessions rose because of rising home prices. Statewide, foreclosure starts in April were down 40 percent from the same month a year ago, while repossessions were up 63 percent. Nationally, foreclosure starts dropped 5 percent, while repossessions rose 50 percent.
