Former Cleveland, Dayton VA Director Pleads Guilty To Fraud Charges

A former director of the Veterans Affairs medical centers in Cleveland and Dayton has pleaded guilty to multiple federal charges in a bribery case. William Montague of Brecksville entered pleas Thursday to conspiracy to commit honest services mail fraud, money laundering, wire fraud, mail fraud, disclosing public contract information and other charges. Montague also agreed to pay more than $390,000 in restitution and forfeiture. The charges against Montague accused him of taking bribes in exchange for influencing VA decisions on more than $1 billion in contracts. Montague led the Cleveland VA Medical Center from 1995 to 2010 and the Dayton VA Medical Center for part of 2011.
