Former High School Band Leader Sentenced On Sex Charges

Newark Advocate

The former Newark High School associate band director was sentenced Friday to nearly five years in prison for having sexual contact with three females who are current or former students. 33-year-old Anthony Miller of Westerville changed his plea last month and pleaded guilty to 13 criminal counts. Miller's attorney said the change demonstrated his client's remorse and acceptance of responsibility. Miller had inappropriate contact with one student at least five times. He also sent nude photos of himself and asked for oral sex from two other former and current students. Miller is expected to petition for early release after six months.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
