Former Mount Sterling Official Changes Plea To Guilty In Deal With Prosecutors

Madison County Sheriff's Office

A former Mount Sterling village administrator has pleaded guilty to multiple public corruption charges. 46-year-old Joseph Johnson is accused of stealing close nearly 1 million dollars from the village, and spending the proceeds on cars, jewelry, electronics and other items. Sentencing is scheduled for March 6.  As part of the plea deal, prosecutors agreed not to charge Johnson’s wife in the case.
