A former Ohio prison inmate has won a 3 million dollar lawsuit against the state after it failed to file a response for several years.
John Henricks sued Doctor Ida Gonzalez and the Pickaway Correctional Institution where she worked in June 2008, alleging Gonzalez failed to give him the proper pain medication after an emergency appendectomy. The state's request to dismiss the case was denied in 2009. The state filed to file a rebuttal until 2013. A judge recently found Gonzalez liable.
