Four People Indicted For Promoting Slave Labor At Marion-Area Egg Farms

Newark Advocate

Four people have been indicted on charges related to allegations of illegally bringing teenagers from Guatemala and forcing them to work long hours with little pay at egg farms in the Marion area last year. Some of the defendants allegedly charged the teens thousands of dollars to come to the U.S., then forced them to work 12-hour days and took their paychecks. The victims were two adult men and eight children who all were forced to work at Trillium Farms. Trillium officials say they were misled by the companies with with they contracted for labor and that the four suspects operated. Trillium operates egg farms in Licking, Marion and Wyandot counties.
