Franklin County Issues Boil Alert

A Boil Alert has been issued for a section west of I-270 near West Broad St.

Details below from Franklin County.

All customers are expected to have full water service restored later Monday evening, and the BOIL ALERT will be in effect until lifted by Franklin County Sanitary Engineering 24 hours after service has been restored.

The affected area includes addresses west of I-270, and east of Hilliard-Rome Rd for those north of Broad St. or east of Inah Avenue for those south of Broad St.  The northern and southern boundaries of the affected area are indeterminate, but only extend a short distance north or south of West Broad St.  Only customers who had no water service for part of today need to boil their water.  Customers who experienced low water pressure do not need to boil their water.  If in doubt about a particular address, it’s best to boil water before consuming.

During the BOIL ALERT, expected to last until Tuesday evening, residents should bring all water to a rolling boil for one minute before consuming.  Water does not need to be boiled for other household uses, and is safe for showers or bathing.  More information about making water safe during a BOIL ALERT can be found online at http://water.epa.gov/drink/emerprep/emergencydisinfection.cfm

Repairs are being completed to the section of water main accidentally broken this morning by a contractor working on an ODOT project on West Broad St., and water service is being restored to the affected area.  Franklin County customers may call 614-525-3940 between8am and 5pm, M-F, or the after-hours emergency number, 614-525-2365, with any questions regarding this issue.
