Furloughs Of Civilian Defense Workers Delayed

The Defense Department is delaying until early April unpaid-leave notices for 800-thousand civilian workers, including those employed at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton.Base Commander Colonel Cassie Barlow says it gives Pentagon officials time to analyze the effects pending federal funding legislation could have on the Defense Department.

Planned furloughs of 22 days are expected due to automatic defense budget cuts. Pentagon officials say the pending legislation could affect the number of furlough days needed.
