Gene Harris Sentenced To Probation, Community Service

wcbe files

Former Columbus City Schools Superintendent Gene Harris was sentenced to one year's probation, 100 hours of community service and fined 750 dollars yesterday after pleading no contest to a dereliction of duty charge as part of the district's attendance data-fixing scandal.  Harris told the court she knew nothing about the attendance and grade changes committed by administrators. Franklin County prosecutor Ron O'Brien says it was Harris' responsibility to submit accurate data to the state.
