Governor Signs Bill Requiring Faster Public Notification Of Lead-Contaminated Tap Water

Ohio Governor John Kasich has signed a bill requiring public water systems to alert residents faster when high lead levels are detected.  The new rule is a key part of a change in how the state and its cities deal with the problem.  Current federal rules give water plants 60 days to notify the public.  The measure requiring two days' notice also calls for speeding up the process of testing and helping cities remove lead pipes.
