Grant Will Allow Harmony Project To Move Into Lincoln Theater

A 728 thousand dollar grant from the City of Columbus will help pay for improvements to the historic Lincoln Theater on the near east side. The grant, and another future grant of 500 thousand dollars, will be funded with voter-approved bond money. Former Columbus Safety Director Larry James, who is now with the theater's board, says planned improvements will allow for the Harmony Project to move its headquarters into the facility.

Improvements will include the interior and exterior portions and the combination of two storefronts that may be used for community events. Columbus City Council approved the grant this past Monday.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
