Grocers, Restaurants Fined

Feb 26, 2013

The Labor Department says the operators of two Mexican groceries in Ohio and a small chain of restaurants in the Columbus area have been fined 30-thousand dollars and have agreed to pay 230-thousand in back wages to more than 250 employees.

The Department says they failed to pay employees enough for the hours they worked and for overtime, kept two sets of records, and gave false documents to them. The businesses are Los Tres Amigos Supermarket in Cincinnati, La Plaza Tapatia Supermarket in Columbus and three Jalapenos Mexican Restaurants in the Columbus area.
