Group Submits Signatures For Upper Arlington Recall Vote

savenorthampark.com

Four Upper Arlington City Council members could be facing a recall election.  Franklin County Board of Elections officials are reviewing submitted petition signatures to decide whether there are enough vaild ones to force a recall election. A group of residents called "Save Northam Park" is upset with the members over changes to the park and the 911 dispatch merger with the city of Columbus. The group says city officials are failing to answer questions about the park's redevelopment. It says council originally planned to eliminate tennis courts, move ball fields and cut down trees, but the current status of the plan is not known. The group also is upset that the city raised its income tax to improve infrastructure, which it says is not in line with park redevelopment. The city has said parks and pools were part of the campaign that successfully convinced voters to approve the tax hike. And council members John Adams, David DeCapua, Debbie Johnson and Kip Greenhill  - the four who are the target of the recall - say they have explained the reasons they are spending 7 million dollars to redevelop Northam Park and a closed swimming pool. The petition signatures were submitted last week.
