Gunman In Drive-By Shooting Sentenced To Life In Prison

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

A Columbus man will serve life in prison for a drive-by shooting that killed a teenager last July. 23-year-old Dustin Parsley was sentenced this week after pleading guilty last month to killing 16-year-old Jesse Cervantez  in front of the victim's home on South Sixth Street near Reeb Avenue. Prosecutors say Parsley opened fire into a crowd of people, but missed the target of a longstanding feud.  The driver of the car, 22-year-old Alexandria Bowen, has been charged with  tampering with evidence and witness intimidation.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
