Health Officials Investigating Suspected Measles Outbreak

biowiki.org

Knox County Health officials are working with the Centers for Disease Control to confirm 13 suspected cases of measles. County health officials say four of the cases involve Amish people who recently went on a humanitarian mission to the Philippines, where an outbreak has sickened more than 20 thousand people and killed at least 50. The other nine cases are family members. The Amish community often shuns vaccinations. Those suspected of being infected have been told to stay home until the symptoms subside.
