A stifling heat wave has sapped attendance totals at the annual Dayton Air Show in southwest Ohio. General manager Brenda Kerfoot says attendance fell 38 percent to about 47,000 people in the preliminary estimates. Show organizers said Monday they're pleased with the number of spectators who still came out over the weekend in unusually hot conditions. Saturday temperatures hit triple digits. Organizers beefed up medical personnel on hand. More than 200 people received treatment, most for heat-related reasons. The two-day event featured the famed Blue Angels, other precision flying teams, historical planes, wing walkers and more attractions in the area that was home to the aviation pioneering Wright Brothers. This was the 38th show. Too late for this year's show, temperatures were cooling in the region on Monday.
