High Court To Hear Ohio Same-Sex Marriage Case In Late April

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments over same-sex marriage in Ohio and a few other states on April 28. The cases come from the Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, the only federal appellate court that has upheld state bans since the justices' 2013 ruling striking down part of the federal anti same-sex marriage law. At issue is whether gay and lesbian couples have a constitutional right to marry in the U.S., and whether states must recognize same-sex unions performed elsewhere. A decision is expected before July.
