House Approves Columbus Schools Bill

The Ohio House has approved a bill targeting the Columbus City Schools. The bill backed by Mayor Michael Coleman and his education commission would require the district to share tax revenue with charter schools, a provision critics caution could lead to a legal challenge. The plan also makes provisions for an independent auditor for the district and would allow the mayor to sponsor new charter schools. The bill now goes to the Ohio Senate.
