House Approves Internet Cafe Moratorium

The Ohio House has approved a bill extending the state's moratorium on the opening of new internet cafes and imposing a new reporting requirement. The bill was introduced after Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine raised legal concerns. Legislative efforts also follow lawsuits and raids in Cuyahoga and Richland counties by state agents. DeWine says the cafes are fronts for illegal gambling. The industry says the cafes are legal and shutting them down will cost thousands of Ohio jobs.
