One of the nation's first public housing complexes is being turned to rubble.
Demolition began yesterday at Poindexter Tower on the near East side as part of a redevelopment effort by the City and Franklin County. It opened in 1961 as a low-cost apartment complex for the elderly, but was plagued by crime and closed in 2003.
