More than 500 Franklin County homeowners are challenging the county's valuation of their properties. This week they attended the first of 17 review sessions that will be held through September 28. Many residents are upset that their values were lowered. But property values this year vary in the county, from a 25 percent increase in some places to a 10 percent decline in others. The county has hired a Texas-based firm to reappraise property values. In 2011, more than 26 thousand people challenged their property values when the last large reappraisal occurred. The county auditor's office says final values will be posted on its website in late November.
