The Cleveland Indians have acquired outfielder Jason Kubel from Arizona.
The Diamondbacks will get their choice of either cash or a player to be named later. The 31-year-old Kubel was designated for assignment this week. He hit .220 with five homers and 32 RBI in 89 games this season. Cleveland has scored 85 runs this month, tied for last in the major leagues. The Indians enter the weekend four games out of the second American League wild card spot and 6 1/2 games out of first place in the American League Central Division.
