The Ohio corrections department says an inmate has committed suicide following his placement in segregation for refusing to follow rules. Prison officials say James Redmond Jr. was found hanging from a sheet in his cell at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe Sunday afternoon. Spokesperson JoEllen Smith says the 41-year-old Redmond was placed in segregation after refusing orders to return to his cell earlier in the day. Redmond was serving a 19-year sentence for a rape in Lucas County. Redmond's suicide was the 10th in the prison system this year, and comes as two consultants hired by the state are completing a report on prison suicides.
