Pickaway County Sheriff's deputies say an escaped county jail inmate died yesterday after he crashed a stolen vehicle during a high speed chase. Deputies say 27-year-old David Payne was thrown from the car after it went off the side of Route 104 near the Ross County line and rolled several times. Payne allegedly stole the vehicle while he was being transported to a county hospital. No word on how he was able to steal the vehicle.
