Jerrie Mock Statue Unveiled At Port Columbus

Jerrie Mock's history-making flight has been memorialized with a newly unveiled statue at Port Columbus. Mock was the first female pilot to fly around the world solo. She landed at Port Columbus 50 years ago yesterday. The bronze, life-sized statue unveiled yesterday depicts Mock holding a globe. The statue in the airport ticket lobby will eventually become part of a "Legacy of Leadership" exhibit.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
