Jobless Claims Rise In Ohio, Decline Nationally

The Labor Department says first-time claims for unemployment insurance benefits fell last week to their lowest level in more than two months. 334-thousand Americans filed claims last week, down by 24-thousand from the previous week. Claims fell to their lowest since early May. The states with the sharpest increases are Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and Ohio. The department says claims in Ohio rose by nearly 38 hundred last week, due to layoffs in the manufacturing, transportation, retail trade, utilities, and service industries.
