State officials say 67 of Ohio's 88 counties had higher unemployment rates in December.
The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says the overall unemployment rate in Central Ohio counties fell a tenth of a point to 5.4 percent last month, the lowest since May 2008. Franklin County had a rate of 5.4 percent, down from 5.5 percent in November. Delaware County had the lowest rate in Central Ohio at 4.3 percent, down two tenths of a point from November. Licking County's rate fell a tenth of a point to 5.8 percent in December, while the rate in Pickaway County remained unchanged at 6.6 percent.
