A Franklin County judge has refused to grant a request by a child care center to block the opening of a 190-bed homeless shelter next door in Franklin Township.Creative Child Care argued county officials erred in allowing the Community Shelter Board to take over the property on Industrial Mile Road to build a shelter to house the homeless during the winter months. The judge rejected the argumet. The Shelter Board says the facility is needed because many shelters are over capacity when the weather turns cold. The Center is also suing Franklin County Commissioners.
