Judge Rules East Cleveland Defautled On Traffic Camera Bill

A federal judge in Rhode Island has ruled cash-strapped East Cleveland must pay at least 638 thousand dollars after defaulting on a years-old bill owed to an insolvent traffic camera company that was based in Providence. An attorney for the receiver overseeing the insolvency says East Cleveland officials did not respond to attempts to settle out of court. City law director Ronald Riley says the judge would not allow him to represent the city in the lawsuit, the city could not afford to hire outside counsel and will not be able to pay the judgment.
