Judge Upholds State's Purging Of Voter Roles

State of Ohio

A federal district judge has rejected a lawsuit brought by voting rights groups that alleged Ohio's process for purging election rolls illegally removes eligible voters. The suit contended the state removes registered voters based on their failure to vote, particularly the homeless. The judge says the rules ensure the integrity of the election process. Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has said there are some counties with more registered voters than eligible voters.
