July Ohio Jobless Rate Unchanged From June

Ohio's unemployment rate held steady in July at 7.2 percent, matching what it was at this time a year ago. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services says 416 thousand people were unemployed last month, an increase of 3 thousand from June. Ohio reported the second-largest job loss of any state in June.  State officials say nonfarm payrolls increased by 53 hundred last month. Job gains were reported in the manufacturing, leisure and hospitality, trade, transportation and utilities sectors. The U.S. unemployment rate fell slightly to 7.4 percent in July.
